Buckham Hall is the former Campus West School for the City of Buffalo Public Schools. It currently houses the Buffalo State Day Care Center in its C-wing, and provides surge space for occupants of buildings that are under renovation.
The renovation of its B-wing will provide a permanent new home for the departmental offices of Philosophy, Modern and Classical Languages, Communication, and Pre-Award and Sponsored Program Operations. These departments are currently housed in Bishop Hall, which will be renovated in order to return to its original use as a student residence hall.
The B-wing of Buckham Hall is a two-story structure with approximately 23,300 gross square feet of space. Prior to this project a partial interior demolition and asbestos abatement project will be completed. The renovation of the B-wing will be a full gut renovation of the interior systems and partitions with only the structure and stairwells remaining. The wing will receive all new windows, mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) systems, partitions and finishes. An elevator, sprinklers, and air conditioning will be added to the wing. Much of the floor plan will accommodate departmental offices suites. Other spaces will include a large shared conference room, a Stripes media lab and one-button studio along with two other teaching computer labs for the Communication Department.
